Why SUV and Truck Limits Differ
Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards distinguish passenger cars from multi-purpose passenger vehicles. Because trucks and utility vehicles frequently carry heavy cargo that limits rear visibility, state laws allow darker tint profiles on rear compartments. The front side windows must remain visible for driver line-of-sight safety and police enforcement visibility checks.
